28. Nijo Castle
This was the home of the Shogunate from 1603 until 1867 when the Shogun returned the castle and sovereignty to the Imperial family. The floors inside the castle are called "Nightingale floors"; they creak at the slightest touch. If heard, the Shogun's Samurai would respond immediately.

John Ward is an accomplished photographer living in Burlington Ontario. He and Eleanor travel often and the various bolgs you are viewing represent some of his best photographs. John's previous experience has been in commercial, portrait and wedding photography as well as black and white developing and printing. In the 1970's John also contributed "Village People" to the Bloor West Villager, a monthly newspaper in Toronto. John is a current member of the Latow Photographers' Guild.
