37. Shinkansen
This is one type of Japan's bullet trains, the Nozomi. We were traveling at 285 kph or 180 mph between Osaka and Fukuyama where Carolyn lives on this one. In Canadian terms, Toronto to Montreal in just over two hours. The Nozomi Shinkansen makes few stops, The Hitari Rail Star a few more and Kodama lots between sites but, they are all Shinkansen's capable of over 150mph. You can get anywhere in Japan either by the bullet or by other slower versions of local trains. The Japanese never refer to these as "Bullet Trains", they are Shinkansen.
